Emiel van Dijk is the SVP & Managing Director for Cocoa & Chocolate Europe & West Africa, being part of Cargill Food EMEA.
Emiel has held various positions within Cargill – in Europe and Asia – leading businesses in the area of commercial and general management, trading and risk management, sales, as well as business development and strategy & innovation.
In 1995 Emiel joined Cargill as commercial management trainee on the vegetable oils trading desk in Rotterdam. From there he moved to Cargill’s World Trading Unit, a trading desk based in Singapore before becoming the General Manager of the Malaysian palm oil refineries, based in Kuala Lumpur.
Upon his return to Rotterdam he held multiple commercial roles (Commercial Director, Sales, PLM, Marketing, R&D), transforming the European oils & fats business. He entered the world of Cocoa & Chocolate in 2012 by leading the Commercial and R&D teams for the EMEA business. In 2016 he became responsible for global Strategy & Innovation, Business Development, Strategic Marketing and R&D.
Since end of 2022 he has held the position of Managing Director Europe & West Africa, he has acted as Global Product Line Lead, and as part of 2030.
Emiel studied Business Administration at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
He is married and has three children. Emiel likes sports, running, skiing, walking, football, as well as watching a movie or reading a book.
